What does it take to max out BFBC2?

Can a single HD 5970 + Core i7 do the trick? Or do I need Two of them in CrossfireX, or 3-way GTX 480 SLI?

More about what bfbc2
  1. depends on your screen resolution at 1080p it should max it
  2. Its really easy to max out with either a single 5970 or single gtx 480.
Well assuming you dont game at 30 ".

I max it out on my gtx 460 easily. And your hardware is better-
  3. granted i don't have any DX11, but 2 x 4870 + Phenom II X4 810 maxes the game for me so a 5870 would work and definitely a 5970 (this is on 1080p)

Hi there, what are your specs, i'm getting 40+fps on a 470 with a Q9550. Wondering what you are playing on?

    Well,
    Q 8400 oc @ 3.6
    4 Gb ddr2
    GTX 460 oced

    40 + fps with lots of details , 50 + approx average
    .
U could oc ur rig , will give you a good boost.
  6. Seems comparabale enough, don't trust my system enough for an OC, might do it when it gets closer to upgrade time, might push the upgrade out by 6 months.
  7. Well a cpu cooler- and you can oc ?
Arent you satisfied with your hardware at the time being ?
  8. its good enough for now, i've tried ocing before on this setup, first time my mobo went pop smelt funny and wouldn't boot. Its also destroyed raid arrays and finally my latest experiements have caused a drop in fps, when going from 2.83 to 3.0 ghz. So for now, i'm holding :)
  9. 5770...
  10. Reaper is right, a 5770, not overclocked can do it at 1080p with only a little lag on big explosions in the face, I have a 1gig 5770, core i7 940 on a 25 inch screen...
I stay at around 35 fps, not the best, but a 5970 will do awesome

Ohh, thats weird, better not try again on same hardware i guess :D
  12. P5B DL too, so not a POS mobo, will experiment before upgrade time and see if I can push the upgrade back 6 months, although the enjoyment of the build is main reason to update I suspect so it might not satisfy the urges
  13. aww come on i max everything out on my gtx 460 not even ocd and with a 1.8 ghz c2d
and the fps has never ever dropped below 36

36 isn't all that high, though you probably would benefit a lot from a better cpu like a core2quad if you can find one cheap as this game really can use a quad core well and it eats dual cores like nothing, especially low clocked ones
  15. I've seen peeps with gtx 470 super oc and core2 quad, getting low performance....

I can play BFBC2 on 1920x1080 resolution, with 8X AA, and all the other settings jacked up as high as they can go and have a very smooth framerate on my Core i7 + 2x HD 5870's in crossfire.
  17. I have an i7 and 2 5770's..... I get good fps... Usually 60, with vsync

!!!!!! pls ppl listen i have a gtx 460 core 2 duo @1.8 ghz 1.5 gb of ram....and i max it out on my 40- inch 1080 p full hd monitor and fps dosent do below 35.4 fps... with aa @ 8 x i cannot imagine core 2 quad and gtx 470 with low fps on that game!!!
  19. the core 17 with 3 way gtx 480 sli will do it... (easily!!!!) thouth i always prefer single gpu configs..
  20. Dooood. One good GPU is more than enough for BC2. Lets define "maxed out" as well. I think a lot of people exclude AA settings when they talk about maxed out. I am running everything maxed except AA (set to 4xAA) because I really can't tell the diff when I bump to 8 or 16.

I am running at 1900x1080 with all settings maxed accept AA which is at 4x. With my OCd i7-930 and OC GTX 480 I get a smooth 80-90 FPS. If I recall the 5870 is pretty close to the 480 so one 5870 should be more than enough as well.

If someone is building a comp, I would say pay attention to your CPU and OC it rather than jumping in with two GPUs.

+1.Overclocked my i5 750 to 3.6ghz today and got a large performance boost in every game I play.Especially Arma 2.I haven't tested BC2 yet but I expect the same.
  22. Depends on the game... But agreed... Th did something a while ago about cpu affecting fps
  23. I think the general understanding was that BC2 is pretty GPU heavy but you have to make sure to OC your CPU to really free up the GPU so it can work at it's full potential.

I tried a CPU downclocking exp with BC2 a long time ago and getting over the 3.0-3.2Ghz hump has a lot of benefits for the FPS. Any CPU clock below 3.0 had a big impact on the FPS.
  24. to OP: i can run bfbc2 on my old pc, 2.4ghz dual core with 9800GTS and 4 gb ram at 1080p at about 15-25 fps, u can kind of imagine how well it will run on ur pc.

granted it isnt high but still playable... whens the screen is not bz i go to the 50-60 fps range but still whaterver the op has is good enough to max it... one more thing how many aa options in bfbc2 i only see 1x

    Windows XP :P
    = DX9

in DX9 mode there's neither AA nor HBAO in bc2.
err earlier you said you were running it with 8xAA ?!!

  27. although its already been stated more or less, here is what I run and it maxes out bfbc2 at 1080p, all high 4xaa, vsync, hboa: amd phenom II X4 955 @ 4.0 ghz and a 6870 at 1000 core 1150 mem. I'm sure it would be more than playable with less, and certainly your 920 and 5970 are both faster then what I got, so you should be more than good.
  28. I play on a 22 inch at 1680 x 1050 with a phenom 2x4 955 and a radeon 5770. I range from 80 - 140 fps using fraps I can't wait to get a 120 hz monitor.
  29. I highly doubt that^^ maybe on all low settings or medium but the op is talking about maxing out bfbc2, that is the title of the thread... there is no way you are achieving this type of fps with a 5770
  30. Can! I have an i7 @ 4.2 with a hd 5770, and get a lil' less since I have it at 1080p

nope, no way, i run 2 x 4870 @1080p i can max it but only get in the 50-60's and each one of these is as powerful as a 5770, not to mention maxing it with the 5770 means using DX11 which would take even more horsepower
  32. You callin' me a liar? It is true...

that doesn't look maxed to me, you have 0xAA and ambient occlusion off
  35. I have aa and the rest on max... :)
  36. that is far from max if your quality is medium believe me Ive ran an almost identical system to yours and like mindless 728 said with around a 5870 performance you get 50-60, I have a 6870 and get similar numbers, in either case the 5770 is about half as powerful as the 5870, and now its clear why you get such high numbers with no aa, medium quality, no hboa, also no vsync and you are playing at 16X10, not 1920X1080, this is why you are able to maybe pull of high 50's sometimes, but I gaurantee there are times that it gets darn near 30, like I said Ive used many 5770s on many systems and they are decent but not great and certainly not going to max out bfbc2 with 60+fps at 1080p by any means, crossfire 5770s yeah but no way a single will pull those numbers, but now that you list your settings it makes a little more sense bc you are going without a lot...

OK I see I turned them on and it dropped to the 40,s -50's it's sound on medium everything else was on high. I guess I need to get another card. If I get another 5770 in xfire and a 120 hz monitor will it max at 120 fps ?
  38. doubt it, my 470 runs at aboutg 70 with hbao on and 80 with it off. I don't think cxf 5770 would do a lot more than that.

i doubt it, like i said i hit 50-60's everything on high, max AA with 2x4870's (about 2x5770's), though another 5770 would help a lot

also this game is pretty hard on systems so i would still go for the 120hz monitor for other games that are less intensive (like source based games)
  40. crossfire 5770s should get about 50-60
