Looking for recommendations of motherboards to go along with my new Athlon64 3000+ (Venice core)

I'm thinking about the Epox 9NDA3+ (NF3 Ultra)

Don't want to go NF4 as I have a 6800U agp and dun wanna buy a pciexpress card heh

There's one problem with the Epox 9NDA3+...

A card with a multi-slot cooling solution (such as the 6800U) blocks two of the SATA ports. And unfortunately, the other two SATA ports aren't "locked", so it'll really limit your FSB overclocking if they're used.

If you're not going to use, or don't plan on using any SATA devices, it's a great board.

I don't know what their engineers were thinking with that layout though!

The 6800U's HSF might work depending on the manufacturer. But I know the Silencer products won't fit with an SATA cable plugged in - whether's it's angled, or straight. There's simply not enough clearance.

With the 3000+ Venices, you really need a board that can hit 300MHz HTT speeds to unlock the full potential. I'm not too familiar with any nF3 boards (s939) that do that. I know DFI is coming out with one soon (July I hear) that should be a mad clocker, but for now, it's more of a luck game.

Hmmm not necessarily. For example over at Anandtech, the EPoX and MSI boards did ~290MHz while the DFI did near 320MHz. There is a difference.

EDIT: Ok, I take that back. Seems like that EPoX clocks very well. Sorry.
