Ok, so I just replaced my GF's mobo with a DFI LanParty NFII Ultra B. After flashing to the DFI N24LD619 BIOS (loaded Optimized Defaults before Flashing, Flashed BIOS, Shutdown, Cleared CMOS, Rebooted & loaded Optimized Defaults), I installed WinXP Pro SP1 on the WD740GD Raptor (including the Silicon Image 3114 SATA RAID Drivers) with no problems.
So I installed the included chipset drivers and after reboot, I get this "NTLDR is Missing Press Ctl+Alt, Delete to restart?" error. Which just ends up being an endless reboot cycle of course.
I have set the boot order in the BIOS to:
1) Floppy
2) SCSI
3) CDROM
And tried setting the Sil-3114 SATA Control to both SATA RAID (as documented) and SATA with no luck at either setting. I also tried disconnecting the data cable from the WD Caviar WD273BA 27.3GB ATA66 storage drive to isolate the Raptor. No luck of course.
Config:
DFI LanParty NFII Ultra B
AMD AthlonXP 2400+ CPU
Thermaltake Volcano12 Heatsink
WD Raptor 740GD 74GB SATA
WD Caviar WD273BA 27.3GB ATA66
ASUS Radeon 9600XT 128MB AGP 8x
2x 512MB Crucial PC2100 DDR (Dual Channel)
Ultra X-Connect 500W Modular PSU
LiteOn SOHO 1633S 16x DVDRW Drive
Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Aluminum Case
Proview 986 19" Monitor
Any ideas? I'm getting tired of trying to run SATA drives on NFII Ultra boards and am considering just getting a 200GB IDE drive for her and throwing the Raptor in my Rig to go with the one I already have.
