I just installed the first Far Cry (never played the series before) and I'm getting <20 FPS which all of you know is unplayable.

I'm able to beast Crysis at 25-30 fps which is much more graphic intensive but how come Far Cry is crap when I'm playing?

My system specs exceed the recommended requirements by FAR!

System Specs:

Setup:
Intel Core i7-930 @ 2.8ghz
XFX Radeon HD 5850 @ 775/1125mhz
6GB 1333 DDR3 RAM
1TB 7200 HDD with 32MB Cache
Windows 7 Home Premium

Is there any way you can disable threaded optimization in ATI graphics cards? if so, disable it. It fixes this issue mostly in nVidia cards. (i don't know whether if AIT is having a such option or not.. :( xD )

I found the answer. Thank you.... Far Cry does not support multi core processors so I had to set affinity to one processor. Now I'm getting 150-250 fps.

Nice to know. I'll look into if ATI Radeon 5800 series cards have that feature. Thank you!
