They decided to spread the holiday cheer early and release the alpha
tonight.

I swear, I *just* read the update on PLANETDOOM (after looking at
Doom:phobos's site)

Haven't played yet, will play, maybe post a review.

The download is 26 megs, and comes with an installer (although it tries
to install to "C:\Doom3", not "C:\Doom 3").

Noob - "do you hack?"
Justin - "i hack like a maniac!"
Noob - "do you have digital cable?"
Justin - "i have *ALL* the cables!"

SnoopJeDi wasted my time on 12/23/2004 8:53 PM with the following:

Ok, played through it now.

I must say, CDoom is coming along nicely, I got some strong nostalgia
going through these three maps.

Not really much to say, other than that I noticed a few bugs.

-Railings and other objects are extremely easy to step over, the
stepheight doesn't match well to the object heights. Careful.

-The shotgun is kinda wimpy now.

-The maps are nicely done, but seem to come apart at certain areas, I
guess it's just a little sloppiness/rushed work.

-The game CANNOT be started by using Start Game > Difficulty. You
*MUST* bring down the console (CTRL+ALT+TILDE) and type "map E1M1" or
"map xxxx" where xxxx is the name of the map you want to run (use dir
maps to list the maps. E1M1, E1M3, E1M4)

-E1M2 is only 30% completed according to the documentation that came
with the package.

However, this is a must for anybody who is even moderately interested in
this mod, or is looking for a break from shooting in the dark
(literally) with Doom 3.

Another link to the package can be found here (the CDoom site suffered a
temporary crash/inaccessability/whatever shortly after the article was
posted)

Just scroll down and some nice fellow posted a link.

By the way...D3files.com hasn't published a news article or added the
file to their database yet.

I sent them an email, but I don't get it. How can planetdoom beat them
to the prize when d3files hosts the site themselves? Maybe d3files staff
is lazy? Maybe CDoom doesn't like d3files and leaves them out of the loop.

Maybe it doesn't matter, get the file you POS.
