BFBC2, COD4MW2, SC2 all crash or don't work on new build HELP!?

Hi, I recently just purchased and assembled a new gaming rig:

When I start BFBC2 from steam, it opens no problem, then I get in game but my left and right mouse buttons do not work.. but everything else does.. I have an old usb microsoft mouse and it works in every other game I played..

When I try to start COD4MW2 from steam, it goes full screen, the my screen turns to a deeper black color, then I hear the Infinity Ward logo/animation thing play.. and then nothing.. sometimes I can see the start of it and it freezes, other times it's just black.. the computer does not freeze, just the game.. and I have to use taskmanager to quit the game..

When I try to start SC2 (from a fresh installation).. it opens up full screen, then closes, tells me it has to patch the game, so I click YES.. then the dialog closes, it goes fullscreen again for a couple seconds (black screen), then closes and gives me the same dialog, then I click yes.. and same thing happens..

I tried turning off UAC in windows 7, turning off windows firewall, disabling proxys in IE and Firefox, opening all possible ports on my router, and reinstalled the latest nVidia drivers from their website, I also reinstalled the latest audio drivers from ASUS..

BTW, all games mentioned here were installed with the DVD from the retail package, and have already been used on my DELL XPS laptop without any issue. Also, my new gaming rig runs Metro 2033 smoothly with NO problems.. so I guess video drivers are working fine..

I also tried running COD4MW2 with steam safe mode, windowed mode, DX 9.0c mode, and still the same problem..

If anyone needs more info about system spec or configuration, don't hesitate to ask.. any help is very much appreciated!

Thanks.

Have you tried running the programs as the administrator? For steam, just run the entire Steam exe as administrator. Also make sure that you don't have any thing running in XP compatibility mode.

Just a few thoughts.

Yeah that fixed the COD4MW2 problem..For the steam.exe, I checked Run as admin, and Disable display scalling on high DPI settings.. I also forced the game to run on DX9.0 (anyways I think mw2 is already dx9)

For SC2, I just copy/pasted the working folder from my laptop (vista SP2) to my new rig (windows 7 64-bit).. and it works lol

Now for BC2.. still same problem.. can't use mouse buttons..

Thanks!

Do the mouse buttons work in the menus or do they just not work in-game? What about keyboard shortcuts?

Nah the mouse buttons would not work in the menus, so I went out a bought a new one.. was due anyways.. now everything is fine.............. except:

overheating! (what great luck I've got).. my i5, which is not OC'ed idles at about 24-25C, but when at max load (well while in BCBF2 at max settings) it hits 75C and then I get one thousand warnings and alarms from PC Probe.

Thermal paste is applied correctly, not to much.. I'm guessing stock fan and cooling skin just probably doesn't cut it.. Any ideas ?
Oh and BTW.. is 75C too hot ?

T-Case Max from Intel was like 72C

You could probably bring it down with some better case ventilation or a better heatsink. Most people say between 50-60C are normal operating levels and 90-100C will result in the system shutting down or severely throttling the cpu. It's probably not a huge deal now, but just remember if dust starts to build up in the heatsink fans those temperatures are going to go higher.

Does that processor have hyper threading ? What happens if you disable it ?

Thanks a lot for everything.. my temporary solution = took the case apart and pointed a huge fan right on the mobo.. works for now.. anyways winter is coming heh.

For the hyperthreading, pretty sure it does.. no idea if I can disable it.. I'm probably going to check that tomorrow.
