I have the same problem on a V710 purchased three weeks ago at Verizon
wireless store.

I need to insert the charger 3 or 4 times to avoid the warning "Unable to
charge".

This started around the time that I began using a Motorola "Y" splitter
cable which allows you to charge the phone and bluetooth headset at the same
time. But in fact, the problem occurs even without the special cable.*

First, I will try cleaning the battery and cable contacts, but I doubt that
this is related. I never have this problem on my car charge cable... Next, I
will try using the 2nd charger that came with the headset. It is the same
exact model. If that fails, I will try using my old v60i charger which is
compatible but offers slightly higher available current. Finally, I will get
Verizon to replace one or both chargers. I bet that "Unable to charge" means
that the phone is getting insufficient current.

For those of you that are not aware, a "Y" splitter cable is sold by
Motorola for use with this phone and the only disclaimers are:

1. Do not use for two phones. Use only for a phone
and a headset (this is because the headset draws
very little current during charge)

2. The total charge time of both devices may be
slightly longer. The cable does not charge in
sequence like batteries in a stand up charger.
It simply splits the available current to both
devices, so a depleted phone is fast-charge state
may take a bit longer.

For what it's worth, I've had no problem charging my V710 with my V60i
charger. I did get that "unable to charge" error on the V60i a few
times, though, but it always turned out to be that I had not inserted
the charger plug into the phone completely.

I remember going through about 10 home chargers when I had my motorola V60
phone. The connections are just terrible and they aren't made correctly.
Which makes me wonder why the hell they didn't change the friggin design. As
what it's worth...all 10 home chargers were replaced free of charge. Could
Verizon have sabotaged me...naaaaa. I'll let it go this time.

Maybe the problem was operator head space.

If it's the same design as on the 270c and 120c, I agree it's horrible and
should have been changed long ago. My old Audiovox phones were easy - you
could plug in a 1/8th inch headphone type jack, or drop it into the cradle
as in a cordless phone base.

That's right...you're too blind to even see or realize that. Most people in
this group or closed minded and have one track minds. Very simple, one way
people here it seems. Don't worry...you'll never figure it out.

You are in this group and there doesn't seem to be more than one track
in your mind either.
