After my last system failed, I purchased the following components:

1. Epox 9NPA-Ultra Mobo
2. AMD Athlon64 3000+ Retail (Venice core)
3. 1 GB Corsair DDR400 Dual Channel RAM
4. Asus Radeon EAX300SE Video Card
5. Seasonic S12-430 PSU

I re-used from my old system: 60GB and 200GB IDE HDDs, CD RW, DVD RW and floppy drives, as well as a Hauppauge PVR-150. When I first hooked it all together, it wouldn't post. I disconnected all the peripherals except the Hauppauge and video cards and it still wouldn't post. When I took out the Hauppauge card, it posted but stops at the following error:

CMOS checksum error - Defaults Loaded
Warning! Now system is in Safe Mode
Please re-setting CPU frequency in the CMOS setup

At that point, the machine stops and I cannot hit either F1 or Del (to get into the CMOS or proceed). The error code displayed on the mainboard is 7F.

I Cleared the CMOS several times using the jumper on the mainboard and it didn't solve the problem.

So, can anybody recommend a solution on what I need to do to get this working properly??

Thx!

Marv

What does the manual say for the code 7F?

Checked the manual only

Whatever that means its not even the right code...
I guess if its not the right code and you cannot go into BIOS you need to do a RMA

Hi!
Have U checked that the BIOS is ready for Vencie core? I've read somewhere that this can happen if the BIOS on the mobo isnt ready for stepping E AMD cpu:s. If thats the case, u can either insert an older CPU to be able to upgrade the BIOS OR u can ask EPOX for a new BIOS chip.

This is a good point. I put it into my service request response to EPoX (assuming their servers ever come back up for me to submit it!).

Thx again.
