Ok here's the deal, a buddy of mine gave me a processor. He got tired of dell and gave it to me so I would help him build a new AMD rig.
The cpu is a Intel 2.60/512/800. Now I haven't keep up with Intel for a long time so i'm lost when it comes to Intel mb's. I plan on using it as a back up pc, rip some movies, burn cd's and so forth. Could someone suggest a good cheap mb.
Abit IS7 is the best inexpensive board for that CPU. I've been all over the market and always came back to it for my customers. Not the economy versions (E, E2), or the Value versions (V), the standard IS7.
If you can still find the Gigabyte GA-8ISXT-FS, it's an outstanding value on an OEM board. OEM means "no overclocking options", but it offers similar features to the IS7 and was available all over the net for around $40.
