GTA 4 BUG - Resource usage

I recently got my 5970 x2 CF working, and when I entered GTA 4, the graphic settings were all set to minimum, it said it used 248mb out of about 4gb.. I were completely unable to change the settings. Is there any way to make it ignore this bug or whatever?
