don't be... if you really do a proper job at researching, it is as safe as any brick-and-concrete retailer is...
I just bought a $6500 computer from a company in calgary (voodoo.ca), never saw any of them in person, but the computer is the best one I've ever had (and I've had brand names and clones since the 286s)... I just did my research and was confident that they'd do what I wanted and more, and so it happened
just saying that one admittedly aweful experience shouldn't wreck your confidence into the whole concept
