So which one do I buy??

I was thinking of getting an MP3 player to cover me for jogging and so I had something to listen to during this stupid 2 hour break I have in the middle of my school day.

I'd like atleast 64 megs of ram and i don't want the thing to skip at all... none of this harddrive stuff, or cd stuff. solid state baby.

i was looking at the Rio 800, though i've heard some negatives about the software.
how bad is it?? are these types of things any good?? I'd rather not spend more than 150 (but i'm sure ebay can hook me up).

So any suggestions, or things to look for, or just anything??

how about software updates and the such, MP3 v2 just came out a few months ago, will i be able to upgrade my player or have to chuck it when support for that is finally widespead
and how about memory upgrades on these things, I know SD-ram prices are plummeting, and so are most general ram cards, but do the mp3 players use generic ram types or do they use special (ie rio player requires RIo ram upgrade)

I've been thinking about getting the Compaq IPAQ PA-2 mp3 player. It comes standard with a 64mb mmc card and can be upgraded with another mmc card. You cna add another 64mb mm card for 128mb. The PA-2 is compatible with all OS's, unlike my dlink dmp-100, which isn't compatable with win XP. The PA-2 should cost you around $150. You may be able to get it cheap on ebay not sure.

Iomega has a mp3 player called the HipZip seems pretty good from the reviews from the web. It uses 40 mb disks that can be purchased for something like 10 dollars us each and it can be also used as a external drive for holding files other than mp3's. The only things that seems bad is that it has an internal lithium ion battery that can't be changed (easly or ch0\eaply) so you have to replace the player when the battery dies (they say like 5 years) and it has crapy headphones, but the disks are a lot cheaper than compact flash cards and iomega is supost to come out with a 100 mb version of the storage disks around now (been looking for info on that) but the player is like 150 us dollars. Check it out on the web.

Since when do modern good quality hard drives or CD players skip?

AMD technology + Intel technology = Intel/AMD Pentathlon IV; the <b>ULTIMATE</b> PC processor
