I am a little new in this so please bear with me. One of my older PC's (P4 1.7Ghz 400FSB, 2x256 MB 133 MHz 168 Pin SDRAM) power supply died, so I tried replacing it, but it wont start. So I think the motherboard is shot too. I went ahead and bought An Abit SG-72, thinking I could salvage my processor and graphics card(Geforce TI-4200) from the older PC. Now the Abit SG-72 Supports Intel Pentium 4 Socket 478 processors (800/533/400 MHz FSB), so I know my processor would work on it.. so what kind of memory do I need. the board Supports 2 DIMM DDR 266/333/400 (Max. 2GB). Now because I have a 400 MHz, FSB processor, should I be carefull of what type of memory I should use?

Thanks in advance

PC-3200 is 400mhz DDR memory, personally I'm a Corsair fan myself and Newegg usually runs some great deals on a matched set of 1GB = 2/512mb sticks, and that would be excellent for your needs.

Get PC3200, or PC2700, or PC2100, or PC1600... Whichever is cheapest. All should work fine at PC1600/DDR200 (100mhz, which is the clock rate of your 400fsb) speeds. If you get PC3200, you may be able to use it in a new system when you upgrade (but DDR2 will become the norm for new mobos soon - it already is for Intel, and AMD is supposed to adopt it next year).
