Super FPS drop is some games

Last response: in Video Games

Hi,
For some reason i experience a significant fps drop in some games, not all but some. I was playing Front Mission Evolved and my fps dropped significantly low. It went down to the 1-17s. I don't think its my computer since my computer can run almost all of the games right now fine. I can play Crysis warhead at high with about 30-40fps. The fps drop also happened when I was playing F.E.A.R. fps dropped to around 1-17 where the game is nearly unplayable. Can anyone care to help with a solution?

My system:
Motherboard: Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P
Cpu: AMD Phenom II X4 920
Ram: 4GB DDR2 1066
Graphics Card: 9800 GTX+
Hard Drive: Western Digital 500GB hard drive 7200RPM
PSU: 550W TR2 Thermaltake

You might have apps or spyware running. Close un-needed apps and do a malware scan.

Check you nvidia control panel and set to "let application decide" and check your in game control panel settings.

Here it goes again...Make sure you got the latest of these installed:
GPU driver
DirectX
Physx
Microsoft Visual C++

Or anything that got to do with Graphic`s see if it helps if not than it could be your Processor that is causing the problem...but Phenom 2 x4 920 is a Quad Core which should be okay I would say.

I updated all of the drivers and the fps is still not going up. Any other solutions?
