Hi.

I have had an HP Officejet 7310 for a few months now, and besides
experiencing the same DEP problem others here have faced in Windows XP,
I am having an even worse problem with scanning.

I purchased this machine so I could do ADF scanning of mark-ups for
work. My general size of a scan would be 10-20 pages.

When I start scanning thru director or thru adobe acrobat, two things
happen:

(i) If I start thru adobe, it always tries to immediately reinstall
the HP software. If I just click cancel, I can go on. Anyone else
seen a fix to this problem?

(ii) Even after things start scanning, HP's director screen comes on,
it scans all the pages, but when I hit the accept button, half of the
pages are usually missing in the final scan!

Anyone have a solution to either of the above problems? It is killing
me and my wife (we both use this scanner). I suspect there is a
communication problem once scanning is complete, between the Officejet
and the computer.

This happens both on my desktop and on my wirelessly connected laptop.

If I use my linux server thru SANE to connect to the scanner, things
work a bit better, but the scanner always stops communicating and dying
after 14 pages! That's right, always the 14th page!!!

This is super annoying-- I hate HP support on line or on the phone--
they have yet to provide me with any help to this.

THanks.

Sunil
