The laptop or the game?

started up ffxiv on my g73 made my toon picked my starting city and then it started to play the benchmark video

i clicked skip then the screen went black and i couldnt get out of it i had to manualy turn the computer off
what caused that

it wasnt completely black it was more like realy dark gray with a ton of skinny black lines going down



edit: well i loged back in left the bar and right before i faught the jelly fish it did it again
