I am running an Athlon 2000xp with 768mb ram and had it on an Epox 8K3A+ But the mobo died and I had to buy a new one I got ASUS A7V400-MX SE and swapped Chip and mem and radeon Grafix onto it. I kept the OS (XP+sp2) It booted up ok and asked for drivers (VIA 4in1) Iinserted the mobo CD and it installed and rebooted. All seemed to be fine but it seems so slow when reading from the Hard drive. For example if I open My Computer, it takes 5 to 10 seconds to bring it up on the screen but if I close it then open again it is almost instantaneous. This happens with everything I open. With the old mobo it wasn't like that, it was fast first time.I have upgraded PC's before and haven't seen this kind of thing.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem. I can't work this slowly anymore, it's like going back to a 586.
PLEASE HELP.

Er, yeh, backup everything you need and do a clean installation of XP.
