I've been a Verizon customer and Motorola user for one week now, and the
only thing that is unsatisfactory is the low volume from my T730. I am
going to trade it in. Do any of you have a recommendation for a
"reasonably" loud non-speakerphone cellphone? If not, a recommendation
for a speakerphone?
I do NOT seek a camera or a "gameboy." On the other hand, I am hooked
by the T730's voice-recognition dialing and would like to stay with that
feature.

OK, I have the 730 and do like it. The low volume thing is present, but play
around with ear positioning. If you hold it where it feels right, it's too
soft. Move the earpiece around as you talk, and it does get louder.
My wife has the LG VX6000 and it is much better with the volume. It is a
camera phone, but you don't have to use it. Sort of nice to have in case you
ever need a camera, but dont want to lug one around. It also has the voice
dialing.

Michael, I *did* play around with ear positioning. It didn't help
enough. My environment is too noisy.
Daniel, yes -- I maxed the volume setting.
Since I posted, two phones were recommended to me: Motorola V60s and LG
VX4500.
The reviews indicated that the V60s's main problem is that it often
sends calls to voice mail without first ringing. Comments?
Reviews indicate that the VX4500's main downside is that it is not
tri-mode. Also, its non-extending antenna limits reception. However, I
live in a metropolitan area and the farthest I might ever be from a
tower is while driving the Florida Turnpike.

I have the same problem. I bought a Jabra headset that has an amp,
that helps quite a bit. It was about $50 at Staples, probably cheaper
on the web.

I like the LG VX 6000.
