I hate to answer a question with a question, but being relatively new to the site I have to ask... have there always been so many people asking questions about GTA IV? In the past month I've seen a ton of these, which seems odd to me for a 2-year old game. Most posts have this information, so I will choose one at random and *voila*:

I guarantee you the money you'd need to spend to get a graphics card capable of playing GTA IV well could just go on a PS3 or XBox 360 and you'd get a FAR better experience.

Unless you already have a high-end gaming system GTA IV just isn't worth it.

It was and still is a poorly ported console game. The Xbox 360 has lower specs than some gaming enthusiasts' PC. Yet performance suffers on the PC. Granted, the console version of GTA IV is only 720p resolution which is stretched up to 1080p when connected to a HDTV as opposed to PC gamers who prefer to play games at native resolution where it be 1680 x 1080, 1920 x 1080, 1920 x 1200 or 2560 x 1600, or whatever...

I recall someone complained about getting 20FPS standing still on a PC with an overclocked Intel quad core and a 8800GTX @ 1920 x 1200 resolution when the game was initially released.

What he said. But then so were the GTA3 games, so Rockstar have a tradition to uphold.
