I have been advised by others to go to college and get a degree in Business Administration specializing in IT. I am a 50 year old male that has been a 2d cad operator for years using Autocad and working for Architects. But I am out of work and the Architecture business is null for 2d cad techs. But I have been informed that now and in the future there are and will be plenty of work openings for people who specialize in Information Technology/ Networking with Business degrees. What do you guys think? :bounce:

In my own experience I'd say that business experience is a pretty big part of what companies look for in a new graduate. I am currently working on an IT graduate internship position at a precision engineering firm who were looking at upgrading their network and older computers (strangely enough they were looking to fill some 3D CAD software positions just before I started) . Much of what I am required to do is analyse the requirements of the business and plan an IT solution accordingly. Technology for the sake of technology is worthless (at least to SMEs)!

Just my own experience and opinions here. I hope it. I'd be interested to see something on the flip side (for instance: would an IT course be as valuable for a business graduate?).
