S3 Standby not working; ideas?

I recently built a new PC using the cast-off parts from my old Dell 4600C desktop, and ever since then I've been unable to use S3 standby properly. When I try to wake up the machine, I can hear what I think is the CPU fan start spinning, but no image appears on the screen. Invariably, I have to unplug the computer from the mains and reboot. I'm using a Foxconn socket 478 mobo with my old Celeron D 2.4 ghz. processor, an 80gb. hard-drive and 1gb. of ddr333 memory, also salvaged from the Dell. Any ideas? Thanks!

Check the settings in bios, and windows. If they are good, you may want to try re-installing your os.

Yeah? Thats pretty extreme...I'm planning to do my yearly re-install in a few months anyway, so we'll see what shakes out. Thanks for the advice!
