On a shoestring as money is a bit tight
Current rig
P4 1.7ghz
Fx5600
1g ram
win 2000

I want to upgrade my processor to 3ghz

My main board is MS 6534ver I think its micro star???

No. You have an older style s478 board. Those chips require a bga (got balls, no pins) s775 mobo.
