i have a little problem with a mates pc. He has an asus p4p800s-e delux. it POSTs fine but comes to search for ide drives and takes a while with full stops moving across the screen. once this has finished it says that no bios is installed. The thing is you can go into bios to change settings. whats going on, why and how can you rectify this. any help would be much apreciated

Sounds like it isn't detecting any hard drive in the extended IDE connectors. Does the system work OK otherwise (load windows, etc.)?

You can disable the extended bios check if you have no HD's connected to it from settings in the regular bios. If the system doesn't boot up because its not finding the hard drive then that message is a side effect of the hard drive not being detected, troubleshoot the hard drive.

its all ok now. what it was, was the raid controller was turned on, so post was looking for the raid disks (which there are none). a simple disable in bios was all that was needed. :) cheers for the help though.
