How do you update mobo BIOS?

I am trying to update the Award BIOS on my Asus A7V, but the flash utility program that I got off Asus' site wont work. This is a first to me, so do I need the flash program? If not, then how do I go about updating my BIOS?

You need to make a bootable floppy and run BIOS flash from a pure DOS enviornment...
Boot to DOS
put floppy in A: drive
enter "format a: /s"
extract bios flash utility to floppy disc
boot to floppy
run utility replacing old BIOS w/ new .bin image
