I have a lot of games i like to get burned but i was wondering on one thing.
i downloaded repacks version of Lost Planet 2 and wondering how they make there installers.
the game is originally 12gb on 2 separate dvds. the one i downloaded is only 4.35gb and it does work like it should so i know its legit. i was wondering how they were able to fit 2 dvd's onto one dvd.
the files that installed had a .arc file extension on them.

A "legit" copy is one that you actual purchased from a reputable store.

You have a pirated copy of the game. Plain and simple.

I suggest you do not post about pirated games anymore because the moderator can and will ban you from this legit forum.

The fact that it works is by no means a proof that it's "legit".

Where are these repacked versions from (note: don't post the site/link, just tell us) are they from the original publisher or is it some shady warez site?

If the latter, then it's a pirated version, and shouldn't be discussed here in detail.

As for how they can be smaller:

1) compression - possibly they just used a much better method of compressing things and got a better result that the original software makers... this seems unlikely.

2) deletion - removal (or resampling) of excess data like in-game movies etc. - much more likely to be the case, especially from an illegal source.
