when i reformatted a friends pc i used winxp set up to delete the primary partition and then format to NTFS (full not QUICK) prior to installation, as I do with my own pc.
I have a 120GB Maxtor diamond plus 9 sata and it takes about 7-10 minutes to create and format the drive for NTFS.
When I did same to a friends pc (80 GB MAXTOR SATA) it took about 10 seconds.. it zipped through it this seems odd is there any reason why it should be so quick?

I'm pretty sure you created a partition, but have not formatted it yet.

OK it's your choice:
You can have the boat, or you can have the Mystery Box!
...Hey wait a minute! A boat's a boat, but a Mystery Box could be anything. It could even be a boat

Well first of all you should be posting in the 2K or XP section for the NTFS file system, but obviously the HDD is not partitioned for the full size of the drive.
