Fredi said this week should be the final touches to the servers. Now is everyone getting the ultra-sluggish forum feel?
If so, do you guys think this is part of the long-awaited major upgrade?

I hope so, and if it's cuz Fredi IS fixing them and upgrading them, I can be patient. At least not many new posts are appearing in most forums so I won't need to check 'em during this extremly slow time.

I don't promise anything, but we're still in the middle of things... Expect more interuptions, hopefully all for the better. Once we did all upgrades/optimizations that are planed there is always one last option left: clearing out old posts... :mad:

well it doesn't <b>need</b> it. It's just pretty damned helpful. I mean you can get by with just checking each section. It's a pain, but it works. I'm not saying I like it this way, I'm just saying the other way was an extra option. I'd really like to have it back, but if it slows things down to much I can deal without it.

Ummm...we don´t live in Uganda ya know.
I think it´s fair to ask for such basics as a function that show if there´s a new post or not.

I have a car, the fuel indicator does´nt work...I have to check it manually, it works but...you get the picture.

It is a tad slower than before, but overall it's fine now. I am awaiting patiently the final touch.

And no, please don't resort to old post clearing, many may be important and we still do go back to check them (in some cases for reference or quoting). Also please do improve the Search function Fredi- I doubt many who get the "Search before you post" treatment, easily find what they want, due to low flexibility and choice of filtering- if you can.

You take a pipe, stick it in the reservoir, and drink all of the fluid. Then, when u barf it all out u measure. Yeah, I would like to have the new post feature again, it's very useful. VERY VERY useful.

Hmm, I never go to the Total Forum list, but even when I did, I don't see what's the big deal about that feature, I mean you have to get inside the forum to know if there are interesting new posts!

It´s a very important feature for us losers that constantly hit F5 to see if there´s a new post.
That way we don´t have to check every thread for a new post, very handy.

Yes I like that feature very much. But it's not a necessity. Oh and for everyone else you just go off your odometer to figure out when you'll run out of gas.

You can clean most keyboards by sticking them in your dishwasher.

LOL... I said to someone once who had problems with his computer: 'That is what happens if you put your PC in the dishwasher' when someone else was listening... he beleived it for a short time because he saw people do the dumbest things with computers.

You mean like complain about their coffee cup hold breaking off. yeah they do some dumb things, but you can put your keyboard in the dishwasher and it comes out clean and works just as good as when i put it in there.

I'm not sure if you could do that with any keyboard... but I've heard some can be washed with water.

I wouldn't do it with the wireless ones, but it works on standard 104 key keyboards.

The odometer doesn't really work 100%. My car used to get 400 mi/tank, but now it gets around 190 mi/tank.

So I want the new posts marked.

It isn't that hard to tell if a post is new without the little icon. There is a date next to each post telling you when it was last updated. But this does require actually reading instead of instant visual recognition.

I crossed the line into insanity so long ago I no longer have any idea which way to go to get further from the line.

Sometimes it bugs. Like if you suddenly refresh on the thread list, or click back too quickly, it may bug and remove all NEW tags, which is annoying since you lose all track of easy perception!
Or sometimes it bugs in reverse, it puts everything as NEW even though you had read most that are tagged again.

Well some days ago you couldn't see how many new posts there where in the Baords Overview... but now it is all fixed.

The website slowed to a crawl again today. Maybe Fredi turns off features instead of shutting down the forum for "maintenance" when it slows down. I suppose that's better.
