I have America's Choice Family Share Plan where my wife and I share with 2
phones. Mine is the primary number. Earlier this month, I changed my plan
so that her phone could take advantage of the unlimited VZW In-Network for
any VZW phone, not just between her phone and mine. It all works just fine,
except...when she calls a VZW number during off peak hours, the minutes get
allocated to "off peak" not "In-network off peak". Calls from my phone to
the same number get allocated to "In-network off peak" as it should. During
peak hours, both phones minutes to another VZW number get allocated to
"In-network peak". I know that as far as my billing, neither off peak or
In-network off peak will cost me any regular minutes. I'm just curious as
to why there would be a difference in the bucket that the In-network off
peak minutes go to. I contacted VZW via e-mail and the response indicated
that the CS person did not read my question and gave a canned response.
Then, I contacted CS via *611 and asked the same questions. I was finally
able to get the CS person to understand my question and she admitted that
she didn't know why the minutes were being put into the off peak bucket, not
the In-network off peak bucket. Calls between my wife's phone and mine are
allocated to the appropriate buckets. Anyone else with this situation?
Just curious.
Thanks,
Harold

I've been with VZW for several years and have had a number of similar
experiences where the "system" does strange things. Like you, I'd made made
numerious inquiries to various VZW sources seeking an explanation. Also like
your experdience, the answer varied with who you were talking to. They often
contradicted each other or didn't make sense. And some of what I've been
told hasn't even passed the laugh test!
But over the years, I've concluded that overall, their service and coverage
is pretty good- though not inexpensive. In fact, it's getting more expensive
as they play "take away"-- modifying the contract in mid stream to do away
with features and services originally contracted for. But the position I've
adopted is as long as it doesn't cost me money or minutes or take away stuff
I really care about, they can slice and dice stuff any way they want.
I think though that I'll take a real hard look at their overall cost
effectiveness when my contract is up in a few months. This is the first time
I've felt the need to do that, especially as the other providers keep
sweetening the pot while VZW sticks it to you more and more-- a little bit
at a time.

It has to do with what promotional code the CSR used when they made the
change to your account. Without seeing your account info, it sounds to me
like they didn't change the primary line's promo code like they should have,
only the secondary line, so that is why the IN off peak calls get credited
to off peak and not IN off peak. In any case, everything is fine, your
secondary line is not being charged for IN so don't worry about it.

Thanks for the info. I understand that I will not be charged...just like
things to work like they should. Kinda anal retentive. :-)

A nvmber of years ago, I saw a sign on a teachers' vnion bvlletin board:
When they came for the mvsic teachers, I didn't say anything becavse I
didn't teach mvsic.
When they came for the art teachers, I didn't say anything becavse I didn't
teach art.
When they came for the gym teachers, I didn't say anything becavse I didn't
teach gym.
When they came for me, there was no one left to say anything.
There probably are people who care abovt the things already lost, and
sooner or later, VZW will take something yov do care abovt.
