hi, I WAS happily using my LJ 3030 for scanning photos and other docs. I am
not sure that installing XP SP2 is a factor, but I have not been able to use
the scanner for some time. I was using a jet driect 170x previously, but the
scan software would just hang. having now reinstalled with a usb connection
I get a crash that references mvscrt.dll. windows is using the latest
version of this dll, but hp seems to distribute an earlier verion with the
3030 software. my version of 3030 software is the latest from hp.

hp has not been very forthcoming with assistance on this matter.

any ideas?

tx,

Phil

for those who care, I solved this problem by connecting via USB and using
ReadIris to scan. works great!

Sad that a leading seller of scanners makes such tinker-toy scanning software
that people then have to drop a bundle of change to buy truly useful software.
Equally sad that people struggle along with HP's lame software for too long
before deciding that other software is needed... Ben Myers
