Had my LG 6000 upgraded to the new version a couple of weeks ago. Didn't
notice anything new, other than my phone has more echo, and I can hear my
voice during a conversation with a delay.
It didn't fix my phone from being in Extended network, or roaming in my
local area zone. Verizon did say they had 3 towers down in the Salt Lake
City area, but I think 2 months is a little long for a tower to be down.

Did you have your phone's firmware upgraded at a Verizon store or are
you talking about *228? *228 option 2 is done over the air (OTA) and
updates your phone's PRL. The current PRL for America's Choice is
50183. You can check software and PRL versions on your VX6000 by
pressing menu 9, 9, 2 It might address an extended network or
roaming issue. A firmware (Software Version) update can only be done
at a Verizonwireless store and may or may not address any issues.

Echos are not caused by your phone. They are caused by the tower. I
wouldn't upgrade my phone's firmware if there were no issues with it.
More things can go wrong than right. Had a few phones fried by Sprint
when I was a customer and one by Verizon after seeking upgrades.
