I've been playing this since last few days. This game is really very good. Almost everything is very good, except helicopter controls. Helicopters are too hard to handle!

BTW, does anybody know how to identify hookers in this game? I want to increase my health to 125, but I'm unable to identify hookers. No hooker in Hooker Inn, strange!

Did you buy it, or download it? I have just completed GTA3 100% so im looking to get this as a sequel. However if possible I would rather download it ( Inever keep games, I complete them and then get rid of them, so I would rather not have to buy it).

Will you buy a legal copy? Or a pirated one?

I'm running @ 1024×768×32b. Almost every cases, no lags. 35 fps typical, 50-60 fps high, 20 to 25 for low. in very very few cases it goes down 20 fps

I've bought a pirated copy for only US $1 (without CD, just went to shop with a HDD, and copied .nrg image to my HDD). With CD it would cost US $1.75 to $2.25

Do you think this DX9 game would run well on older vid cards like the Ti4200 AGP4x? I was thinking of buying the game but am worry that my card can't handle it well.

IIRC GTA Vice City isn't a DX9 Game. And if I am right I think it should run perfectly fine of a Ti4200

Yeah, today my helicopter ran into a skyscraper, the blades grinding on the wall, for some reason I was able to bail out and fell like 100ft onto a little balcony of the skyscraper, then 5 seconds later the copter's ruined frame crashed about 5ft away from me, bringing down lamposts and squishing a hooker or two. Amazing.

I have the retail version of the game, and I can't find an ISO or BIN on Kazaa, so just borrow the game and find a noCD hack, which should be on Kazaa soon. There is an Install and a Play CD.

Anyway my retail version works ok on 800X600, draw distance at high level, just hiccups occasionaly when using a fast car. Did the full installation. I use a...
Athlon XP 1900+
Geforce 3 Ti500
512 megs PC2100 DDR
60gig HD
Sound Blaster Live!
52X CD-ROM

Anything less than a GF3 or GF4MX will have BIG performance problems, even at 640X480, I've seen it on a p.o.s. PC running a GF2.

256 MB PC1600 DDR @ 2.0-2-2-6

I'm running this game @ 1024×768×32b with No AA

Finally I was able to pass that fvcking toy helicopter mission, but not without cheating. I was able to handle that thing after hours of practice, but some bastards were destroying my toy helicopter with hammer and I was also hitting walls too much, causing this mission almost impossible to finish. I slowed down the game timer 2x using cheatcode. Then I had plenty of time for movement, so I didn't hit walls much and chopped these bastards with helicopter blades before they were able to knock my toy. It took boooring 12 minutes (with slowed down time) to finish this mission.

Though this mission sux, it's kinda funny to see construction workers and security guards getting chopped with toy helicopter blades.

Then it's not simple buying.....add some special word. In this forum, buying means "real" buying.

I can get CD for Tk. 50, but instead I take my HDD to CD shop and copy the CD image for Tk.30. If I like the game, then I burn it (After packing with WinRAR, This way I burned 2 disc GTA3 in 1 disc, without shaving any file).

IMO, this game is not very well balanced like GTA3. In some mission, you get very little money, but the mission is too hard to complete. In some mission, you get pretty good ammount of money, but the mission is easy to finish. And the game has too much races, unlike GTA3. And you can't play the last story based mission before completeing 60%

Last story-based mission? I thought I beat the game and I'd only finished about 45%. I saw the credits after what I thought was the last mission. Oh well. Already uninstalled and burned into storage.

Athlon XP 1500+
512mb PC2100
GF4 Ti4200 64mb(Leadtek)

The game ran beautifully with only very minor framerate issues. I had full draw distance on and ran it with all the bells and whistles at 1024x768x32. I've got a 17" CRT.

Whatever man It doesnt really matter. BUt for the record i never did say "buy" :p
That's a pretty cool trick really. But when i go out to buy in bulk your lotsa games it kinda comes down to the same price. And that's how i really buy I have my exams for a month more now so no gaming really. After that

Last story based mission means Tommy Vercetti's last mission (not the "Cop Land"), where he kills Lance and Sonny.

There are many side bosses; Avery, Love Fist, Mitch, Umberto, Auntie Paulet, Paul, Phone and there's always property missions after you buy a property

Go to GameFAQs GTA Vice City faq page <A HREF="http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/33100.html" target="_new">http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/game/33100.html</A>, then download Minesweeper's guide (I like his faqs'). It should answer your questions about all missions

I receivecd last mission phone call after completing 47%; I heard that 60% thing at GameFaqs.

The last mission was a piece of cake for me. I finished Phil's missions, so I was able to buy Minigun. I bought one for this mission, and finised the mission with less than 250 bullets. Lance didn't get chance to go to the roof.

A couple of things: first, I beleive that GTA VC is a DirectX 9 game because in the requirements it says DirectX 9. You can see it by yourself: <A HREF="http://www.rockstargames.com/vicecity/pc/index.htm" target="_new">http://www.rockstargames.com/vicecity/pc/index.htm</A> (click on system spec).

Next thing, if you are downloading it from Kazaa, only a 650Mb file is not enough. You need two CD to play the game: one install and one to play. Both .img files take 750Mb.

I completed the game to about 80%. I am only left with the hidden packages, rampages and hidden jumps to find, which get pretty boring after a while.

It says DX 9 required to be installed on your computer to ensure that there are no software conflicts arising because of older versions. It doesn't say Dx9 graphics card required.

<font color=blue>If you can read this then it's time to move on to the next post  </font color=blue><font color=red><b><i>Jay Kay</font color=red></b></i>

You're right I tough you meant if you needed to install directX 9. For the graphic card I'm not sure, mine is DX9 compatible, but I think it will be OK because DX9 graphic cards have just special instructions that make DX9 games run faster, they are more optimized for DX9 games than older graphic cards.

You can install DX9 no matter what your card supports, It's backward compatiable. And yes the game might require it to be installed i've seen that many a times. It's just to make sure that everything in you comp is up to dat and that no glitches occur while running the game.

I got my cds today. I dunno i still find gta3 better. But the bugs of gta3 have surely been removed. 1024*768 32 Smooth as hell. Rockstar games have done a really poor job. Nothing new since the original gta. 90% of the stuff was there in the original GTA. They've done nothing but revamp the graphics. The road are quite narrow quite like the vice city in GTA 1 but also had it's fare share of 4-6 lane roads. Lemme see I'll play it a bit more but i still fins gta3 better even though i'm playing it the second time.
