Alright this might be a dumb question, but even when Im not doing anything web related and when my computer is off, the activity light on my cable modem continues to blink.

of course. thats because there is activity out there. Could be SNMP, ICMP, whatever. Thats why you have a firewall.

as posted many issues and probes cause that not the least of which are probes by infected machines with code red etc.. you can help stop this by going to <A HREF="http://mynetwatchman.com" target="_new"> this site </A> and setting up your firewall to forward attacks to them where they will then notify the offending ISP's
