Hi,

Ive recently installed GTA 4 on my pc..But im getting the above error with in 20 mins of gameplay..

my configs are

i5-760
HD5770
4Gb RAM
Asus P7p55DE

resolution at 1680 x 1050 at 60 hz and all settings are set to low/medium using only 380MB/1024MB in the Game menu..

No matter what resolution i set it gives that error after 15-20 mins..Its not patched, its the original version 1.0.0..

I tried it with compatibility setting like winxp sp2,sp3, win vista sp1,sp2 etc..

All gives the same error..pls tell me how to fix this? Does the newer patches fix this issue? Pls help me...

Patch the game and see if it helps. That's the best place to start.

The latest patch, will give you more performance, and may well resolve this issue-
Patch 1.0.7 i guess

Try reinstalling the game buy right click the setup and choose Troubleshoot compatibility (For Win 7) and patch the game to 1.0.7. See if the problem would go away.

Very naughty... Stay away from sites like that, they include all sort of nasties with their torrents (besides which, it's illegal).

hey josephkarthic,
Download the latest patch.(1.0.7)
This will surely solve your problem.

Hi,

I patched the game last night and it worked well..No more Resc10 error..But the game stutters with 30fps..

.All the settings are high taking 780/1024 mb in my video card..Is this normal?

resolution is 1920 x 1080..do i have to reduce all graphics setting to low?
November 24, 2010 4:52:05 AM

GTA 4 on the PC is not well optimised at all. Since the 5770 is a mid-range GPU, I expect you will have to lower some settings to get decent frame rates.
November 24, 2010 5:01:47 AM

Oh, 5770 is a midrange card? I thought its a good card which plays all games with decent fps after seeing all the reviews here..

ok, So do you think adding another 5770 in crossfire will help get good frames?

By the way i have Asus p7p55d-e motherboard which offers 16x on 1st Pcie slot and 4x on second PCie slot..

Will that be any good? i mean will there be much difference from 16x-16x slots?
November 24, 2010 6:07:28 AM

It's a very decent card, but not the fastest by a long shot. I think 1920x1080 with all settings on may be a bit too much for it to handle. But again, GTA4 is a bad example because it runs poorly on the PC. Other games should work better.

Buddy GTA 4 is really a bad coded game.So it definitely requires a high end PC to run it on
full high graphics.
Its nothing new in case of GTA4.
GTA 4 is considered as the most demanding game uptil now.
But other games will work well.
Best of luck.
November 24, 2010 10:22:11 AM

Ok thanks for the reply..Ill make sure to set at low settings..

But..do you think adding another 5770 in crossfire will help get good frames?
November 24, 2010 10:30:39 AM

It's an option, yes, provided you have a good quality PSU of at least 550W to support the second card. Are you willing to spend that much just to play GTA 4?
November 24, 2010 10:37:18 AM

Actually Im thinking it as a future proof for some games too..

Anyways ill wait for the price drop on 5770..
November 24, 2010 11:48:42 AM

hey josephkarthic,
Two good graphic cards joined together became more powerful as compared to single powerful graphic card.
They used to perform better than a single high-tech graphic card.
But that pair should also be good.
Like 5770 pair is an excellent pair.
Similarly,
GTS 250 pair is nice etc.
Best of luck.
November 24, 2010 2:03:43 PM

5770 sli will definitely give a great performance boost, btw, you dont have to play at low settings with these specs, medium is fine,
November 25, 2010 3:24:17 AM

Ok, I just have a problem here..

I lowered the settings to Low and resolution to 1680 x 1050..Im getting about 100+ fps,,

But still the game stutters..It lags once with in 5 sec and then again in another 5 sec..and the game is almost unplayable..

The CPU affinity shows its taking up all cores at 3.1 Ghz with around 75% load with 62C on my stock cooler..In task manager the RAM Memory it took is around 1.1 GB ..

I think its not bcoz of graphics card but bcoz of cpu and ram, my ram is 4 gb DDR3,

Do you think if the CPU is overclocked it will give better perf? pls help i really wanna play this game.. :)

November 25, 2010 5:40:26 AM

CPU and RAM are not to blame. The i5-760 will handle just about anything. GTA 4 on the PC is badly coded, period.
November 25, 2010 5:53:40 AM

Ok thanks for the reply..I have another 2 discs of games which is Episodes from liberty city with respect to GTA 4..Is that game coded well for PC or same like GTA4?
November 25, 2010 11:19:32 AM

Episode from liberty city is pretty much the same as GTA 4.
November 25, 2010 11:24:28 AM

Agreed, but gta episodes give you even lower performance- !

buddy they have used advance softwares for the GTA 4 Episodes from liberty city to minimize system requirements but they have failed.
All three parts of GTA 4 demands more n more.
November 29, 2010 11:48:53 AM

Thanks for all you replies...

I finally managed to get rid of the stuttering altogether by doing the below..

->applying patch 1.0.7.0
->using the command line option -windowed in the commandline text file in the GTA4 directory..
->turning off the Shadows in graphics option and all other setttings to medium..

the game is really smooth in windowed mode with no stuttering with 56 fps at 1920x1080 resolution..by auto hiding the taskbar i could see no difference from fullscreen..Atleast its playable now..

maybe this will help someone who started to play GTA4 just now like me..lol :)

thanks for your help guys..
