I set this in my Nvida Drivers for my 6600 Gt AGP. But not sure if its
realy play with these settings. Iam using the 71.84 drivers.
Do i need to turn the AA on in Doom 3 to the settings i have in
windows to allow AA 4X ? or just leave it to off in DOom 3 and the
wndows settigns will give me AA4 ?
Iam using the global settings for the driver to set the settings the
Driver Doom 3 setting seems not to allow me to chnage the AA or AF
just gos back to game controled. Even if i saveas and make a new
setting for the game ?
I set the deafuls in windows and running at 1024*768 AA4 AF8 hight
Quality and it gives me 60 FPS. This does not sound right. But if it
is might up the RES alittle and make the game better.
Set your global settings to application preference, then turn on AA and AF
in the game menu. If you set it in the nvidia app to run AA and AF it uses
it's instructions instead of the game mfg's instructions.Only problem with
this is running older games that have to use it from the display driver, but
that's what some of the tools/utilites are made for. You can set preferences
for different games to use different vid settings when you run them.

Create an autoexec.cfg file in Notepad and save it to your \Doom 3\base
folder. It will load each time the game is started. Put this in there:
seta r_multisamples "4" //0, 2, 4, 8, 16 AA
seta image_anisotropy "8" //0, 2, 4, 8, 16 AF
If your nvidia panel has AA and AF set to use application preference or
whatever it's called in the nvidia panel, then it will use the settings in
your autoexec.cfg when the game loads.

One other thing, once the game loads you can drop the console(ctrl + alt +
~) and see what has been loaded from the autoexec.cfg.
In console type r_multisamples and hit enter
type image_anisotropy and hit enter.
tab completion works in the console also.....type image_ then hit tab,
scroll to the one you want and hit enter.
You can also change these in the console but you have to exit the map(not
the game) and reload the map to apply the settings. I'm not sure about the
vid_restart command in D3, I don't think there is one.....

The nVidia driver specifically prevents Doom 3 from using control panel
AF. It's set that way under profiles.

Ok in game it says 4x AA . added the lines in the doomcfg. Playing
the game Ultra Quality at 1600 by 1200, Get smonthing like 30 FPS
minium. I did this high res just to make sure it was working as i
tried lower res and seemed to get 40 fps ?
AA 4 AF 8 Ultra Quality at 1600by1200. You got to love the 6600 GT :0
Now iam going to install Farcry and the 1.3 patch with PS 3.0 And
up the settings and see what it can do. It looked ok onmy Radeon 9600
Pro.
Thanks.
