Hi all,
Well i'm taking the plunge and upgrading my system. Have upgraded over the last year and the last bastion of hell is my old P2 350.
I'm currently leaning towards the P3 1ghz cpu, and was considering the ASUS CUC2 motherboard until i found out how hard it is to find this sucker. I am biased towards intel chips, don't ask me why, but am open to amd chips.
So that said can someone please recommend a high performance/cost efficient motherboard/chipset for me for either the p3 1ghz or an amd if you have that preference.
I use my computer for mostly games, broadband and stock research. I would really appreciate any help in this matter. I'm very new at buying motherboards.
As a side note i have a SCSI 160 and would love to be able to slap it in a 64bit pci slot. I have had trouble finding any motherboards with a 64bit other than ones made for servers...

Asus boards are very good. May I suggest the Asus CUSL2?

Well I doubt I could find you a motherboard with a 64-bit PCI, if you want your computer mostly for gaming. Here is my recommendation:

You can either
1. Get an ASUS A7V motherboard and buy an AMD Thunderbird 1.2GHz for the same amount as you would have spent on a P3 1GHz (probably even less)
or you can
2. Wait until January and get a DDR motherboard, an AMD Thunderbird 1.2GHz (with 266MHz FSB) and 256MB or whatever you want of DDR RAM.

The second one is probably more legible because when the DDR stuff comes out it will be the same price as normal stuff and twice as fast (memory wise).
