Hi,

I am thinking of getting an xbox. if i subscribed to xbox live gold, why would i need a points card? and can full hd movies be downloaded onto the hard drive or external hard drive with xbox live?

Points and a live subscription don't really have anything to do with each other. You use points to buy things on Xbox Live but you don't need points for Live. You will be able to download movies to your hard drive and limited to an external drive (16GB max per USB slot is recognized). I'm not sure the outlet you would go through over Live for this but I know at the very least there is Netflix.
