motherboard driver?

Hi

What was that I read on ASUS site about a motherboard driver? I can understand a BIOS flash and even a ATA100 driver but since when did the mobo need a driver and what does it do?

These are not drivers for the mobo itself. They are more for components like the Promise controller or onboard stuff like audio or AMR devices.
