Since I haven't taken the test I have no clue, but maybe when you register they give you a CD with all kinds of usefull information including practice tests.
They do that with the GRE at least. It's very similar to the real test.

A+ consists of two exams. One for software and one for hardware. A+ cert. basicly says you know stuff about computers. Thats it. Says very little about networking. 5 years experience on the job is worth 5 times more then that peice of paper!
<edited>
also, each exam cost 150 bucks for a total of 300 bucks to take this exame. Of course price varies.

A+ Core Hardware and OS Technologies both have a scaled score between 0 and 1300. The minimum score to pass is 596 and 600 respectively. The exams are now adaptive, meaning you can take between 20 and 50+ questions. As you answer easy questions at the start, the questions get progressively harder (or easier if you answer incorrectly). Because of this, you can answer all questions correctly and not even get close to 1300.
I scored 849 on the Core exam and 827 on the OS exam.
If you have taken any kind of computer course you should find the exams fairly easy.
