Got a letter from AT&T saying that I COULD be one of the people that are using a home network, and if so, I should be paying them the $10 a month fee for AT&T home networking service. Can they tell if someone has a home network with, say, a Linksys BFSR router and 4 port switch with firewall?
They told me they couldn't tell me what my up and download bandwidth was when it was very slow, so how could they tell if someone had a home network?
Any input appreciated, and let me know if you recieved a letter also, please.
Thanks, Take-Out

I use a router ( d-link di-704) very similar to yours.. in general there is no way that they know you are using a network .. they are trolling for the uninformed for a few extra bux imo.. as for speed up and down .. visit Here go to the tools section and tweak and test your speed, line quality etc etc .. the forums there are great too for broadband related help

Chances are they won't know you're on a home network.

2k and up i dont think they can tell (easily and leagaly) but if you got a network of win 95 computers and a loose firewall they will be able to pick up the netbios broadcasts. 2k is more secretive.
