Gaming ddr3

Hello,
I have a laptop which in the windows preformance states
cpu 6.7 i3 370m
ram 5.9 4gb ddr3
aero 5.1
game graph 6.3 5470 HD
HDD 5.9 7200 spio black

will upgrading the ram actually help gaming FPS? do windows 7 & games need this much ram?

Not really. 4GB of RAM is more than enough. It's the HD 5470 that's limiting you.
