I'm looking at buying a 19" monitor as an upgrade from my old and failing Princeton Ultra 15". I would prefer a flatscreen 19" capable of 1600x1200 @ 75hz or better...preferably 1600x1200 @ 85hz.

I have been reading about the new Flat-shadowmask monitors that are going around, and the specs seem to meet my needs, but has anyone here seen/worked on one? Are they all the goodness of a CRT in terms of colors and image quality just flat? It would be nice to get rid of those two-lines which I keep hearing about.

I will be using the computer for a variety of things, surfing and gaming (what else is there?), so I would like something with good photographic image quality and fine type(if thats what the terms are), and also decent play in games. Anything will be an improvement over this, but I would like to get something that can do 1600x1200 @ 85hz or so because I'm often infront of the computer for 8-10hr's at a time and afterwhile anything below 75hz just kills ya. At my previous job my station had a 19" KDS CRT and it was pretty nice(again, compared to my 4+ year old 15" ), and my boss ran a 19" KDS Trinitron.

As far as what I have been thinking of, I was checking out the Hitachi CM772 Flat-Shadowmask, Cornerstone p1460, or maybe an Iiyama.

Does anyone have comments to make on these monitors, or can you suggest other monitors that can meet my requirements?? Thanks.
