You can't read any DVD disks or is the issue that movies don't play? Do you have DVD play-back software? Is the issue with one disk or many? If only one you may just have a bad disk, dirty, scratched, etc...

You will definitely have to be more specific to what your problem is for us to help. Does it say anything back to you when it does this, like an error code or an error message? In the mean time take a look at this troubleshooting site that may have some good information for you!

I hope this helps!

In addition to hang-the-9.
It could even be a faulty drive, I bought a new one on Monday and it failed to read or play any dvd from the start, I took it back the next day and got a replacement .

You said it clear as day! Same problem here. Downloaded Win7 Pro from Microsoft Store. When backup disc arrived in mail, system running Win7 does not recognize the disc in DVD drive.
I can insert into any other computer and set-up starts straight away. Updated bios, sata every driver I could think of. no success! Microsoft support says they have not heard of this but, I see it in many forums.
And since it will launch in other computers not running Win7, software is fine they say. I don't get it? Drive reads any other disc.
