Problem installing WinXP

my friend is trying to install winxp on his computer...its about 5 years old...he doesnt know the specs and i havent seen it...i think its like 92mb of ram p2 maybe? he had winxp just before but decided to format because of way to much spyware...now after formatting setup doesnt want to copy all files?...hd is about 8gb?
and suggestions? install a diff os?..he used NTFS maybe should install using FAT?

It is probably giving a error message. Without knowing what the message is would cause one to only guess, and thats almost never a good thing to do.
