I have an Asus CUSL2-C with an 800Mhz PIII EB and 256 MBs of PC 133 ram. The problem is that no matter if I assign an IRQ to a PCI slot in the BIOS settings, Windows 98 SE does not respect that and gives another IRQ that is not the one specified in the BIOS. Note: Plug & Play option is disabled. Thanks.

The thing is VERY hidden, but I once found it when searching for "IRQ steering" in MSKB: Control Panel->System->Device Manager tab->System Devices->PCI Bus->Properties->IRQ Steering tab: Disable "Use IRQ Steering" if not already done (If enabled, Win98 will try to reassign the IRQs if it thinks this is necessary).

Hope this helps,

Bernd
