Hi,

I'm setting up a wifi network in my home, with the following gear:
1. dell notebook equipped with builtin 802.11g
2. a dell desktop with a linksys wdt11 pci card (802.11b)
3. d-link di-524 router

The router is setup to administer dynamic ip addresses. The notebook
works fine, but I can't get the desktop to connect to the network. I've
tried reinstalling the card, and have the latest drivers in place, but
nothing...
The network is visible, but when connection is attempted, I get a weird
IP address for the desktop (192.169.something when the router
administers 192.168....) - and obviously can't actually access the
network.

Any ideas?

Thanks ,

JG

Make sure the router is broadcasting the SSID, that you're using the
same key if you've enabled WEP.

Seems the PC can't find your router.

Another possibility is that the router is set for 802.11g mode only,
you might have to reconfigure it to use "mixed" 802.11b.g mode.

I hope this helps.

Ph.
