Greetings!
I have just installed the Doom Trilogy (Ultimate Doom / Doom II / Final
Doom) on my Dell Inspiron 8500 laptop. This system has a built-in fuzzy
button mouse, plus a touch-pad pointer, and uses an external USB connected
Mouse (no PS2 mouse port). When running Doom, I can't get the mouse to
work. It works during normal PC use and also during the game configuration
and setup, but when the game starts, the mouse is dead. I've tried
adjusting Mouse settings from the control panel, I've disabled the fuzzy
button or the touch pad separately, and neither action makes the external
mouse work when running the game. The "Enable Mouse Support" box IS checked
in the game configuration. By the way, the laptop pointers also do not work
when the game starts. I have always enjoyed the Doom games but I'm used to
using the mouse to play.
Can anyone offer a solution?
Thanks!
Scott

That's a fault with that version of Doom - the mouse driver only works on
Win95-ME. If you want the mouse to work, you need to use the Dos version
(where the sound won't necessairly work properly) or grab a source port.

Source ports for Doom:

Noticable ones are prBoom (compatability), ZDoom (versatility), and JDoom
(improved rendering). Other options are available, but aren't as popular.
