Sims 3 Video Driver

Hello,
Whenever I play Sims 3 my computer screen goes black adn I can no longer play. The only way I can do anything is turn it off and back on.
A message pops up before this happens. It says "We strongly recommend that you update your video driver." What does this mean and what do I do?

Can you tell us your computer make, as this sounds like it may be using integrated video, which is normally poor for gaming.
