Folding@Home is a LARGE GRID COMPUTING effort. Presently over 1,000,000 computers and over 400,000 people have contributed. Present speed is approximately 200 Teraflops.
Completely nonprofit and totally for humanities benefit. Join the team, it's kind of fun. :-D.

Seems other people/sites can claim they have great community spirit. We need 2,000,000 points to get in the top 100 although we can sustain a postion there with present contributions. <b>So how about kicking in for awhile?</b>

"priyajeet" started a team to do protein folding for humanities benefit and to have this community recognized. <b>We're team 40051</b> at <A HREF="http://folding.stanford.edu" target="_new">http://folding.stanford.edu</A> and we could use a little of your help.

Hi Everyone,

I'd like you all to say hello to a new friend from Germany. I wrote up this "Spiel" on the German Toms and <b>"de_hamati"</b> said he's going to join us! He's got a couple of machines that might be contributing.

So if you'd like to say hello or send a thank you u can sign up and reply to this thread: <A HREF="http://www.tomshardware.de/cgi-bin/community/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=occpu&Number=188438&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&vc=1#Post188438" target="_new">http://www.tomshardware.de/cgi-bin/community/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=occpu&Number=188438&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&vc=1#Post188438</A>

I had the initial invitation tranlated then used a <A HREF="http://www.freetranslation.com/" target="_new"> Free Online Translator</A> for the follow up. Hope he's laughing.

I asked the German fellows to sign up with a <b>de_</b> prefix. That way they can race us if they get enough people.

It's hard to keep track of this one. And more difficult with so many new members. So if I missed anyone I'm sorry  :

Xnilf __________ 30,000

<b>Project Rank: 289</b> of 35,000. We'd very much enjoy your company as we climb the ranks.

We need you to <b>think of creative ways</b> to add new members. I think I our first recruit from Tomshardware.de will be kicking in soon; look for de_hamati.
Hopefully we can get a competition going.

We're still chasing Team "FRM". Those guys passed us over a month ago. We have the average on them now but they are still 2 days away. Looking behind us, I don't see anyone that's a threat.

<b>de_hamti</b> is the first guy from Toms German forum. Hopefully more will join us now that one has contributed. I posted the invitiation in more forums. Their forums don't seem nearly as busy as ours though.

<b>Kudos: !!! 500,000 points - Congratulations Team - 500,000 points !!!</b>
Yep team, we did it. We've cracked the 500k barrier today.

Individual Milestones:It's hard to keep track of this one. Look up the points on this <A HREF="http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=40051" target="_new">link</A>.

Stefan ____ 10,000 points --- Big Milestone!! - Congrats!

<b> !!! Keep Folding !!! </b>

<b>Project Rank: 272</b> of 36000. We'd very much enjoy your company as we climb the ranks. Together we can make the top 100 teams in the world in this endeavor but we have to stick together. 200 in team ranking is a short sprint away. <b>We're in the top 1% </b>(of team contributors).

The way it looks now is that we're not going to be able to break into the top 100 barrier in any reasonable amount of time. We need an average of at about 20,000 per day to stay in that league. We need you to <b>think of creative ways</b> to add new members.

<b>BLOG</b>

The good news today is that we've hit 500,000 points. That is a tremendous milestone for us. The last two months (that's how long I've been doing this) has been an amazing rush up the ranks. I was recruited as the team broke the 1000 barrier. I thought that was impressive at the time. But as the team grew..from 20 to 80+ members the climb never seemed to stop accelerating. Thanks everyone for letting me part of this great team. The top 100 in the world is a definite and reachable goal. It's not everyday that you'll be able to say I was part of the top 100 in the world  .

Don't know how the reception over at the German site is going. Seems pretty quiet over there but today who cares, we hit <b>500,000 points</b>

We have a few Gmail accounts to give away to new joiners if you contribute to the folding effort. Apparently these are being auctioned on EBAY now, .. what some people will do for a $1.
If you want an account, send "Flinx", "wusy", "priyajeet","Spitfire_x86" or "ChipDeath" a private message after you reach 100 Points. At least 5 Gmails have been given out so far!!!

Another great day at folding. Our own <b>"sjonnie"</b> reaches <b>100,000 points</b>. He's the only one to do so in our group. His closest rivals are far far behind; not even 40K points.

<b> Hip Hip Horray for "sjonnie" </b>

The going is slowing down. We keep advancing but the pace is more modest. We still need new joiners.

"Wusy" will be happy to know that team "FRM" is in our crosshairs; a week or so and we'll repay them for passing us two months ago. Vengance is sweet, taste it!

Yep "Chipdeath", "priyajeet" tried to contact them. Ignored his pleas I guess. Like you said in CPU, they are sponsoring something else. I looked at the something else and it's not for me because I want to choose where my resources are going. Also it looks like commercial interests or government are somehow or indirectly involved or involved with this company IBM picked.

If you're folding and want a GMAIL account, send "Flinx", "wusy", "priyajeet","Spitfire_x86" or "ChipDeath" a private message after you reach 100 Points. At least 7 Gmails have been given out so far!!!

<b>Check out the CPU Benchmarks in the Graphics Thread</b>
And "SpitFire_X86" also created <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/spitfire_x86/thgc/fahbench.html" target="_new">THIS</A> but "ChipDeath" made pretty colors in the graphics forum.

"Wusy" and Stefan are now HAPPY  . The infamous and much reviled team "FRM" has gone down to ignonomous decay  . Team "FRM" passed us back in December. It's taken us a long time to catch up but we did it. Everyone can pat themselves on the back; job well done!
