AHA29160 failure

Hi all,
we have a problem to get an ADAPTEC 29160N board
working in a K7EPOX EP 8KTA+ mainboard at 1GHz clock
(K7 ATHLON). But it seems, that the board is not the
problem, because other board do not work too.
Having a clock of 800MHz all is working fine, but
with 1GHz the SCSI Bios is not able to register the
first harddisk correctly to the BIOS.
It will find the harddisk, but booting is not working.
Any ideas? Did anyone other recognised that?
