My minecraft is laggy

I just bought the minecraft beta and the fps is very low.. I tested out my pc with minecraft classic and i got 200 - 300 fps why is the fps so low on the beta.. ? my pc specs are 9500 gt 1gb ddr2 P4 2.8 ghz thanks

Ok what you want to do is:
1.) Start up Minecraft
2.) Go to Task Manager
3.) In the 'Processes' Tab, look for 'javaw.exe'
4.) Right click 'javaw.exe' and look for 'Set Priority'.
5.) Click on it and select 'High'.
6.) IMPORTANT: Do not select 'Realtime' unless you want your computer to crash...
